Year 10 girls are well stocked to cook tasty Chinese meals after winning an abundance of goodies from Ming-ai Institute in London.
In June last year the girls (then Year 9) took part in a competition sponsored by the Institute to cook a Chinese meal and make a storyboard or video to accompany it. Among the tasty meals made by Sarah, Rachel, Lili, Poppy, Abby, Olivia, Lizzy, Phoebe and Olivia were char siu dumplings, sweet and sour chicken balls, sesame seed noodles and fortune cookies.
Their creative work resulted in the school being awarded a wok, two Chinese cookery books and a ten lesson sponsorship of Lee Kum Kee sauces, as well as nine sauces each for the participants to take home.
Ming-ai Institute have visited St Mary’s on a number of occasions to deliver inspiring workshops about healthy Chinese cooking.
