Now on day four of hearing our year 7 and 8 girls read for our annual in-house reading competition. Their English teachers and I want to select one girl from each form to go forward to the finals, which we plan to hold next week.
The girls have had to choose a passage containing dialogue from a favourite book and I have been delighted by the diversity of books represented so far. I have been moved by extracts from titles such “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas” and “The Fault in our Stars”, made to laugh by something by David Walliams and “Adrian Mole” or taken back to the classic writing of Lewis Carroll and “Alice in Wonderland”. To be continued…!
