Children’s Book Award update

Can’t believe I haven’t posted anything since March as I have so much to say! The fact is that the library has been an even busier place than usual since school resumed at the end of April.

We’ve had the continuing excitement of voting in the Children’s Book Award though sadly we were disappointed to learn that we could only take four girls to the award ceremony on Saturday 9 June. I will gloss over that bit, but we will try and take lots of photos and share our thoughts of the day. However, many of the girls not attending in person will still be rewarded as many of them wrote personal messages to their favourite author. Those messages are being collated by 10 testing centres throughout the country and will be presented, to each author, in a special portfolio which will be read and, without doubt, much appreciated.

It will be interesting to see if other voters agree with the results from St Mary’s. I won’t announce those yet though – don’t want to pre-emt anything – suffice to say there wasn’t much between our top two.
