The new Senior School video gives people an insight into the brilliantly balanced education on offer at St Mary’s.
Students at St Mary’s have achieved outstanding GCSE results year after year despite the school being non-selective. The short film gives an insight into the secret behind the success, which is not the result of a narrowed curriculum, but quite the opposite!
As well as having the choice of a range of subjects to study at GCSE level, from classics, further maths and ICT through to art, textiles and PE, students have the opportunity to get involved in activities from radio presenting to outdoor adventure.
As the video shows, girls can extend their skill base by taking part in public speaking, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, orchestra and rock band. Drama productions, author visits, workshops and field trips are also amongst regular events in the calendar for the students.
St Mary’s Principal, Mrs Hilary Vipond, said “I’m a strong believer that success in life comes from more than just impressive exam grades. While we are very proud of our outstanding academic results, we are even more proud of the brilliantly balanced education we offer in order to produce exceptionally well-rounded individuals.”
