Lower School Sports Reports wc 10 October 2022

Monday 10 October – Year 3 and Year 4 Netball v Gosfield School (home)

On Monday we hosted matches against Gosfield School. The competition was evenly matched with Year 3 & 4 playing on two separate teams. Year 3 playing their very first match, showed great teamwork and determination, resulting in a 3-0 win. Isabelle P was voted player of the match by the opposition.

The Year 4 team showed great improvement since they played last year, but were narrowly beaten 6-5 in the final quarter of the game. Amandine was voted player of the match for Year 4.

We are looking forward to more matches next half term and also inter-house Netball on 17th November.

Wednesday 12 October – U11 Hockey v Gosfield School (away)

The U11 squad travelled to Gosfield to play a friendly 7-a-side match. It was their first match as a team, although the girls have been learning hockey in lessons and some of them have been attending hockey club with Mrs Byford this term.

They showed great promise and tenacity against some talented Gosfield players. At half time the score was 2-2. In the second half we stepped up a gear taking a 3-2 lead but Gosfield fought back to even the score line. Lucy and Annika scored the final 2 goals with Holly having a goal disallowed.

A win for St Mary’s with a final score of 5-3!

Audrey and Amelia were named players of the match. 

Thursday 13 October – Junior Cross Country

Over the last half term the Junior girls have been working exceptionally hard to improve their fitness and prepare for today’s event. Year 3 and Year 4 completed two laps of the course (1000m) and Year 5 and 6 three laps (1500m).

All the girls showed determination setting off at a good pace and many managed to maintain this throughout the whole race. The weather was kind and the support of parents and other team members made it an enjoyable afternoon.
