At St Mary’s, we are committed to working in partnership with parents to ensure that our pupils have the best support for their learning and development.
Relationships with parents and carers are truly valued at St Mary’s. We strive to have an open door and we believe that a successful education rests upon strong partnerships with parents. We are therefore wholly committed to establishing good parent/teacher relationships and we encourage parents to contact us at any time should they have concerns or simply want an interim report on progress.
Reports and parents’ evenings occur throughout the year. The times vary according to year groups so please contact the school if you require further information. Parents who are unable to attend parents’ evening or who wish to discuss their child’s progress at other points are welcome to contact to the school office to arrange a suitable time to meet with the relevant teacher.
Parents of pupils in Years 1 to 6 are invited into the classrooms on occasional Fridays at the end of school to look over their daughters’ work. These open classrooms are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your daughter’s work with her and to be involved in her learning.
St Mary’s has a school app through which parents are sent communications. News and photos are shared through a newsfeed on the app and a calendar containing all key dates is available to view, and can by synced with your personal calendar. These features, as well as useful documents and links, are all tailored at a year group level so as to provide you with the details you need without bombarding you with unnecessary information.
Parents are also able to contact relevant staff directly through the messaging system on the St Mary’s app. The school office staff will also be happy to help or to steer you to the right person if you have any questions. Parents can contact the office via the app or by calling 01206 211242 for the Kindergarten or Lower School office (select option 4 for the Kindergarten and option 2 for the Lower School office), or by calling 01206 572544 for the Senior School office (select option 2).
