15 November 2024
Children at St Mary’s Kindergarten, Lower School and Senior School fully embraced Children in Need 2024 on Friday 15 November, raising in excess of £1,400 to help support the charity’s core principle, that every child should have the chance to thrive and be the best they can be.
The Lower School had a spotty non-uniform day and held their annual Pudsey Bear raffle, giving the girls the chance to win one of the highly sought-after handmade Pudseys.
Pupil Scholars at St Mary’s Senior School organised a fundraising non-uniform day, encouraging the girls to wear clothes representing this year’s theme of ‘Make Life Lighter for Children’. The girls held a Children in Need bake sale, along with fun competitions including an ‘Anything But A Bag’ challenge where pupils had an array of imaginative ways of carrying their school belongings in throughout the day such as a toy car, a PC tower, a traffic cone, a fish tank, a Children in Need themed trolley and an adapted a pair of jeans backpack!
Mrs Nicola Griffiths, Principal said “Pupils at St Mary’s are keen to be involved in their communities and to give their support to charities. Children in Need is just one of many charity-led events that St Mary’s School participates in. Several thousands pounds in donations are raised every year by St Mary’s families. Fundraising activities are pupil-led members of the Charities Committee at the Lower School and by a range of pupil leaders at the Senior School, including the House Officials, Round Square Committee and Miss Comrie Scholars”.
