When the Head of English (Mrs Mitchell) and I met with students on their book based enrichment activity, we looked at the Library stock of picture books for older readers such as ‘The Arrival’ by Shaun Tan – a book about immigration which has strong messaging and the most captivating images.  I may have mentioned this book before, if so I make no apology, as it has been described by many other readers as a “wordless masterpiece”! The girls were tasked with producing age appropriate picture books with a message that might be identified by their classmates.  Their initial ideas were very interesting and we are looking forward to seeing how these develop after half-term.
