International Women’s Day art competition launched

To mark International Women’s Day, an art competition for school age children has been launched by St Mary’s School in Colchester. The challenge is to create a piece of artwork inspired by the Accelerate Action pose for International Women’s Day 2025.

The art competition has three categories for different age groups. Each category will have a winner and runners-up!

The age categories are as follows:

  • Reception to Year 2
  • Year 3 to Year 6
  • Year 7 to Year 11

Mrs Nicola Griffiths, Principal said “At St Mary’s we believe that girls are remarkable and so we relish the opportunity to celebrate International Women’s Day. This art competition will offer a challenge for girls from St Mary’s and the wider community to get creative and feel inspired by this year’s theme for International Women’s Day ‘Accelerate Action’. We are looking forward to receiving entries, which will be judged by our Art Subject Leads at the Lower School and Senior School. I wish everyone the best of luck with their entries!”

Entries should be submitted online at www.stmaryscolchester.org.uk/competition by Monday 24 February. Winners will be awarded on International Women’s Day, Saturday 8 March at St Mary’s Future Females Careers Fair held at the Senior School, 9.30-11.30am.
