Government Data Confirms St Mary’s as Leading Non-Selective School in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk for GCSE Attainment 8 Score

St Mary’s has been ranked the top non-selective school in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk based on the GCSE attainment 8 score released by the Government.

The national Attainment 8 scores are based on how well pupils in a school have performed in up to 8 qualifications across key subjects at the end of Key Stage 4. St Mary’s Senior School achieved a score of 66.3. This outstanding result reflects the girls’ accomplishments in their GCSEs, with a significant increase in 2025 in grades 9-7 or equivalent.

This year, 55% of GCSE results at St Mary’s were graded at 9-7 (equivalent to A*-A) in comparison to the national average of 23%. More than half of the results for the core subjects of Maths, English and Science were graded 9-7. An exceptional 100% of results for Latin, Fashion & Textiles and Hospitality & Catering were graded 9-7 or equivalent.

These results highlight both the strength of our empowering educational approach and the growing recognition of the unique advantages of all-girls education. Research from around the world demonstrates the significant benefits that an all-girls environment such as St Mary’s can provide.”
