St Mary’s pupils celebrate excellent GCSE results

Year 11 pupils at St Mary's School in Colchester celebrating GCSE success

Pupils at St Mary’s School are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results today.

Almost half of all results were grades 7–9 or equivalent. The national average for GCSE grades 7 and above is 21.8%. An exceptional one in three grades was awarded at grade 8 or 9 across St Mary’s Senior School’s academic, creative and vocational subjects, while 86% of all grades were awarded at a Grade 5 or above (‘Good Pass’).

The results reflect the achievement of the whole year group across a broad curriculum and mark an important milestone as pupils move on to sixth-form study and the next stage of their education.

Mr Lee Daniel Faith, Principal, said:
“We are immensely proud of our Year 11 pupils and all that they have achieved. These excellent results reflect their hard work, determination and resilience, together with the expertise and dedication of our staff and the support of their families.

“At St Mary’s, we want every girl to aim high, embrace intellectual challenge and develop confidence in her own abilities. Today’s results demonstrate the academic ambition, character and breadth of achievement within this remarkable year group. We congratulate every one of our pupils and wish them every success and happiness as they begin the next stage of their education.”
